Meet Our Instructor

Tanya Heasley FRSA

Tanya's life has been shaped by significant challenges, including neglect, abuse, prison, adoption, death, divorce, domestic violence, and attending seven different schools, all before the age of fourteen. These experiences have profoundly impacted her emotional wellbeing, presenting numerous obstacles on her journey.

Despite these adversities, Tanya has forged a path of resilience and success. She has been married for nearly 30 years and has four wonderful children. Armed with two degrees, a master's degree, and nearly completing her PhD, Tanya has also become an award-winning entrepreneur, published author, TEDx speaker, and commissioned artist—all while navigating life with autism.

Do You Resonate With Her Story?

"I remember when my anger felt like an uncontrollable storm, causing chaos in my life and hurting my relationships. Each time I lost my temper, I felt alone, misunderstood, and full of regret. I hated feeling this way, but I didn't know how to stop. I hated anger so much that I tried to ignore it, which only made things worse and led to me feeling mentally unwell.

My struggles with anger started when I was a child. The first real fight I had was with my mother and I felt ashamed for a long time afterward. The pain and frustration I felt as a child never went away; instead, they grew inside me. My childhood was very difficult. I faced many challenges, and was subjected to things a young child shouldn't be; including neglect, abuse, prison, adoption, death, divorce, domestic violence, and attending seven different schools, all before I turned fourteen. These experiences deeply affected my emotions and made life very hard.

As I grew older, my anger continued to cause problems inside me and affected my own self-worth. When I first started dating my husband, I would pick fights with him because I thought all relationships were full of arguments. I was afraid he would leave me, so I ended up hurting our relationship before it even had a chance to grow.

My anger made me dislike myself. Each outburst made me feel worse about who I was. It's understandable to react with anger when you've been hurt so much and never learned how to handle your emotions in a healthy way. This cycle of anger and self-hate seemed impossible to break. Does this sound familiar to you?

If it does, I want you to know there is a way out. Imagine changing your relationship with anger, turning it into something that makes you stronger and more empowered. Picture yourself understanding why you get angry, knowing what triggers your anger, and learning to express your feelings in a healthy way. Don’t let unhealthy anger control your life anymore. Take the first step towards feeling in control, confident, and at peace. You can become your own hero."
